I really enjoy the law, the legal research and reasoning, and the way we can help our Council officers solve problems. I also love the history - the law is usually about trying to solve a problem, a societal evil, or a need of the people.

I'm working in a newly formed project team within Information Management & Technology. The team has diverse skill sets, knowledge, experience and commitment to transforming the way we do business.  As an information professional I’m always curious and eager to learn more about most everything.  

I get to help employees in their journey back to the workplace after an injury or illness. It’s very rewarding to be able to witness firsthand the tangible difference when people are able to return to work – where they can find joy in engaging in meaningful work, to have a return to routine, and to be able to connect with their colleagues.

The best thing about working at Council is the absolute breadth of opportunity. You get to work on so many interesting matters as an in-house team – from planning law, to criminal law and even corporate matters – no two days are alike. We’ve got a great small and tight-knit team too with a real foundation of trust and open communication.

That’s our goal here: to help support the children with key life skills to enter the world. It’s less about the reading and academics, but more about giving them the opportunity to be who they are, to provide a supportive environment where they can grow and thrive.

While I’ve enjoyed the challenge of various roles in Council, my passion definitely lies in waste. I love being able to introduce something new and watch it grow – like our new system being installed in each waste truck. It’ll make it much easier for us to have visibility over the routes and bins, and it will streamline a lot of processes for us in the office.

I love the diverse work that is done here at Council. One day, you are helping a not-for-profit organisation, and the next day you are working on a policy that will help Council’s long-term financial capacity.Council has limitless opportunities for those wanting to progress – I’ve certainly embraced these and I’ll make the most of any more that come my way!

Seeing your work and designs while walking the streets is a great reminder that the work we do matters. It’s the little things that I am proud of, like watching a cyclist enjoy the new water fountain in Engadine Town Square or ensuring safe pedestrian access across development frontages. These small projects leave a lasting impact on our community.

The best part of my job is definitely helping our customers who walk through the door of the library each day. I spend a lot of time preparing and delivering digital literacy programs, but I love the time I can help out a customer with their printing or connecting to wifi.

I love that in my job, I get to think about and action the things that matter most to our community – our connection to nature. Our big commitments that I’m currently working on are our Tree and Bushland Strategy and our goal to achieve a net-zero impact by 2030.

The team here are so passionate and dedicated. They care deeply about arts and libraries, but they also advocate strongly for our customers and try to make these places the best spaces possible for all of our visitors, to be a place where people can learn, study, work, connect, or simply relax.

I've always viewed my role in IT as empowering the business to meet community needs. We manage strategic IT projects end to end at Agile Portfolio Delivery team with special focus on business alignment at every stage and value realisation.

With three kids and a busy workload, having supportive managers and a great team of people to work with, in all of my roles, has been crucial to my success. Council has nurtured me and provided excellent opportunities for growth whilst understanding my family commitments.
