Expected completion: 2026
Project background
We are in the early phases of upgrading Gunnamatta Pavilion to accommodate the changing needs of the community while maintaining and restoring the familiar and valued heritage features of the original 1939 pavilion building.
Gunnamatta Pavilion is a much-loved community venue in the Sutherland Shire and a feature of Gunnamatta Park, Cronulla. The Pavilion was built in 1939 and the original parts of the building are heritage listed. Gunnamatta Pavilion is currently used by multiple community groups and is regularly hired for general use.
Council is looking at ways to improve how the space is used now and for the future, while maintaining the heritage features of the building.
The wider area of Gunnamatta Park, which includes the amphitheatre and swimming baths, is also being considered for improvements.
