The main motivation that inspired me to run for local Council was a strong desire to make a positive impact in the community, in which I have lived most of my life. I want to ensure that everyone’s needs and perspectives are considered in decision-making. I believe that my leadership can make a difference in areas like sustainability and economic development. And finally, a genuine passion for governance and public service.
The main goal I hope to achieve in this term is to create more opportunities for residents and businesses to participate in decision-making processes, ensuring they feel heard and represented, welcome and supported. I aim to boost the local economy by creating initiatives that help small businesses thrive or by attracting new businesses to the area. I am also focused on improving public facilities, transportation, sustainable practices and housing development - in a way that benefits everyone in the community.
My vision for Sutherland Shire is a combination of growth, sustainability, and community well-being. A key element of my vision is that our area is welcoming and inclusive to all, with accessible public spaces and services for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, ensuring that everyone can fully participate in community life. I envision a future where Sutherland Shire grows responsibly, balancing the need for housing and development with the protection of natural spaces like beaches, parks, and bushlands, ensuring that new projects are environmentally conscious and in line with preserving the Shire’s natural beauty.
As a high school teacher of Economics and Business Studies and facilitator of financial literacy workshops, I bring a strong foundation in finance and education to my role as Councillor.
My experience as a successful small business entrepreneur gives me practical insight into local economic development, while my background in hospitality management has honed my leadership and operational skills.
I am committed to youth empowerment, community engagement, and fostering sustainable growth. These diverse experiences equip me to address the needs of our community effectively and strategically. I hold a Bachelor of Education (Economics, Business and Commerce).
Living in the Sutherland Shire, I enjoy outdoor hobbies like walking, cycling, or spending time by the beach, whether it's for relaxation or staying active.
With three adult sons, spending quality time with them and staying connected with their lives is important to me, whether through family gatherings, shared activities, or just maintaining close relationships. I enjoy reading, whether it's staying informed on current affairs, diving into history, or exploring fiction.
And finally, I love flying. Whether it's piloting planes by myself, travelling by air, or simply enjoying the mechanics and beauty of flight, this hobby offers me a unique sense of freedom and exploration.
