Aspiring young athletes and squad swimmers seized the opportunity to elevate their skills at an exclusive high-performance swimming and coaching clinic at Sutherland Leisure Centre, featuring Olympic gold medallist and world record holder, Ariarne Titmus.

The event, hosted by Sutherland Shire Council in partnership with Swimming NSW, took place on Sunday 23 March 2025 at Sutherland Leisure Centre, with sixty swimmers aged 9–14 years focused on Freestyle drills designed to elevate performance in the pool.

Titmus, celebrated for her remarkable achievements as a world record holder and Olympic champion, shared her journey, insights, and tips for success with the young athletes. Attendees also enjoyed the opportunity to take photos with Ariarne, capturing memorable moments with the swimming icon.

Participants also engaged in a squad-style training session led by esteemed Head Coach, David Proud, with the support of Sutherland Leisure Centre’s competitive squad coaches.

Sutherland Shire Mayor, Councillor Jack Boyd, said the event was another outstanding success, reinforcing the ongoing positive impact that the high-performance swim clinic is having locally on the sport of swimming.

“It was fantastic to see so many young swimmers participating in this incredible opportunity to learn from elite coaches and have the opportunity to meet and be inspired by Olympic champions like Ariarne Titmus. The enthusiasm and dedication shown by the participants highlight the value of programs like this in motivating and nurturing the next generation of athletes

“Council is proud to continue supporting initiatives that inspire and develop young talent. I have no doubt some of these swimmers will go on to achieve great things in the pool, and we are excited to support them on their journey,” Mayor Boyd said.

The budding athletes left the event feeling inspired and equipped with new skills to enhance their swimming.
