My mother's rural childhood home/farm is in Trundle, regional Central NSW. The farm, Waiwera, has been in my family for almost forty years and is home to countless pieces of old machinery and irreplaceable items that are central to the farm. Waiwera is a place of memories. My body of work represents its colours, machinery and vehicles through the rugged, abstract nature of corrugated iron and metal of rural Australia. Recently my grandparents said goodbye to the farm and this work celebrates the importance of place to my family. Although these objects are rusted and obsolete, they endure as memories.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the artist Merran Esson.
