My body of work is intended to create a feeling of serenity and silence. It is a still life, inviting the audience to have a moment of tranquillity as they experience the serene environment of a garden picnic. Heavily influenced by the placid and idyllic nature of Margaret Olley’s works, I chose to use subtle expressionistic techniques in order to incorporate more personal and distinct features and to represent the ethereal and picturesque.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Margaret Olley, Basket of Oranges, Lemons and Jug, Ranunculus and Pears, Apple with Glass; Mary Cassatt; Berthe Morisot.
