Collection of Works
Paper, pipe
My body of work, Cladonia Rangiferina, examines my Swedish heritage and how my connection to its culture has strengthened me. The moss I constantly saw during childhood trips with my grandfather represents my cultural connection to Sweden. It is overlaid with architectural diagrams, with footnotes providing information about the moss’s history, medical constituents, dietary properties, references in literature and cultural significance. A handrail filled with moss, which the audience is invited to hold while viewing the work, is intended as a reference to support and strength. My work explores the power of heritage in strengthening one’s life.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the artist Roni Horn.
