Heads Up!
Drawing
Graphite on paper
Heads Up! expresses the breadth of the effects of the climate crisis on our air, earth, water and wildlife, from the world’s largest mammals to its smallest insects. Using surrealism and satire, I intend to comment on global wildlife’s increasing reliance on us to survive. My body of work represents animals wearing human protective gear to survive the environmental issues created by humans, specifically air pollution, rising water levels and global warming. René Magritte’s faceless figures inspired me to disturb and unsettle my audience similarly, forcing awareness on looming environmental issues as the consequence of climate destruction.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: René Magritte, Jaimee Paul.
