Perception

Painting, oil on canvas

My works explore the concept of perception - using subtle symbolism and expressive hues; my pieces strive to represent elements of human experience through a surreal lens. The reoccurring symbolism of the eye in my work expresses the concept of enlightenment; while the symbol of the hand represents the beautiful, expressive nature of sensory experience. Baby's breath represents the softer, more innocent elements in the works; essentials for self-exploration. This is contrasted with that of the moth, expressing how one can be blindly led; a moth to a flame.

The overall aim of my works to present the viewer with a subject matter that can be interpreted within the context of their own individual experience.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
