Meltdown

Painting, watercolour, gouache, ink, soft pastel

Meltdown is an exploration of the public's response to climate change as one of grief. Climate change evidence invokes differing interpretations and emotional responses amongst individuals. In my artwork, scenes of landscapes and animals affected by climate change, combined with data and researched evidence, focus on the impacts of climate change in the arctic region. Subtly distorted data reveals hidden internal turmoil and reflects how one's emotions and attitudes can influence how a problem is perceived. In order to move forward and address the issue of climate change, we must first address our own emotions and unhealthy coping mechanisms to reach a point of acceptance.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
