Tonight, Again, the Wind Brushes the Stars (Prologue)
Painting, oil on canvas and printed paper
Based on real photographs, the chronological series of oil paintings convey significant locations, objects and events of Korea before, during and after the WW2 Japanese Imperial Colonisation period. From the 19th century to present day, each image was recontextualised into my affiliations on the estranged relationship between Korea and Japan, which is being further deteriorated by their recent Trade War. Governments have the power to manipulate information to their own biased views. Thus, understanding is crucial for nurturing humanity. My artwork aims to enlighten people about history so that we all are able to love one another and never repeat these atrocities again. Then, we can truly move forward.
