Ceramics

My body of work is a clear reflection of coral bleaching and plastic pollution in the ocean. My ceramic reef systems replicate the reality of what's occurring all around the globe. By introducing subtle pieces of plastic in my sculptures, a natural imbalance is evident with the insertion of a manufactured element. Whilst maintaining a visual appeal, the plastic stands as a cruel reminder of how the man-made world effortlessly intertwines with the organic construction of coral reefs. Accompanied by glass marbles and the subtle pieces of plastic, the audience is able to visually recognise how algae starve from these prevalent issues. The addition of the coloured marbles in the crevices of my sculptures allow for an added depth within my work, creating a contrast within the otherwise pale tones.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
