The Corruption of Memory

Sculpture

Plywood, cardboard, paint

Salvador Dali is reputed to have painted his iconic The Persistence of Memory with its distorted clocks after watching camembert cheese liquefying in the sun. I have recontextualised Dali’s distorted timepieces in the form of a mis-scanned grandfather clock. My work mimics the distortion that occurs when computer memory becomes corrupted.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
