Communication through technology is an integral aspect of our lives, but we do not have to think about the complexity of the process that underpins it. Threads of Communication reflects on the changes that have occurred in technology and gives insight into past telecommunications, where every telephone call involved a physical human connection. My body of work is inspired by my great-aunt’s career as a switchboard operator in the 1950s, and from understanding the complex process involved in transferring calls. Material representations of a linear path evoke the metaphorical connection of the past and present, both technological and generational.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
