Michelle Cawthorn is a multidisciplinary artist who explores themes related to identity, childhood, and place through her distinctive visual language of repetitive mark making.

She has held 13 solo exhibitions and participated in over 60 group exhibitions nationally. She has twice won the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Local Artist Award and been the recipient of academic scholarships for her research in the field of fine art.

In 2021 she was awarded her PhD in Fine Arts from the UNSW where she holds undergraduate degrees in Fine Art and Art Education. Michelle is represented by OLSEN Gallery, Sydney

With over 15 years teaching experience Michelle currently teaches painting and drawing at Hazelhurst Arts Centre and also teaches at the University of Wollongong.
