Claudia Citton is a contemporary artist, working predominately across Ceramics, Sculpture, and Installation. Inspired by Australia’s natural environment and rich landscapes Claudia adopts primitive firing processes such as raku, saggar, black and wood firings as a vehicle for her artistic expression.
Claudia has a Bachelor of Visual Arts with Honours from Sydney College of the Arts and also holds an Advanced Diploma in both Ceramics and in Fine Arts from TAFE.
Over the last 20 years Claudia has exhibited widely in major Australian exhibitions including being a finalist for the Woollahra Small Sculpture prize, the Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award, the Biennial North Queensland Ceramic Art award, Townsville Art award, Gosford Ceramic Art prize, Blacktown City Art prize and the Festival of Fishers Ghost to name a few.
She has been the recipient of numerous art awards including winning first prize in the Fisher Ghost Ceramic Art award and twice winning first prize in wheel throwing and twice in Hand building as well as the People’s Choice Award in the Port Hacking Potters Art Awards. Claudia has a number of works held in private collections both nationally and overseas including Campbelltown City Art Gallery.
Claudia has taught Ceramics in schools, the community arts sector, TAFE and Regional Art Galleries since 2006, and teaches Ceramics to all ages, and delivers education programs at Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
