Sutherland Shire Council’s social media channels aim to inform, educate, and connect residents. We do this by highlighting information about the initiatives, programs, and services we deliver for our community and welcoming/encouraging open and respectful community discussion.
Unfortunately, we are not able to address all questions on our social media platforms, especially those that may need detailed answers from our specific units.
To report an issue, we may ask you to report it online.
When interacting with our pages, we ask that you:
- do not post personal addresses or phone numbers
- are respectful and courteous
- adhere to the relevant platform Terms of Service and related policies.
We reserve the right to moderate public comments. This may include hiding or deleting comments that contain:
- False or misleading statements or imagery about individuals, communities, or Council
- Use of language or imagery that is obscene, sexist, racist, misleading, or offensive
- Unauthorised promotion of external businesses for commercial gain
- Unlawful statements that could incite others to break the law
- Making threats to individuals or Council
- Defamatory comments about individuals or groups, including, but not limited to, Councillors, employees, or volunteers
- Information that may compromise the safety or security of our community or Council
- Confidential information or proprietary information
- Breach of copyright or the privacy of others
- Links to petitions
- Repetitive or spam posts
- Any other inappropriate comments as determined by us.
We take our legal obligations seriously and we will moderate contributions to our pages if they contravene our legal requirements or violate our Policy. Repeated violations of this Policy may cause the author to be blocked from the social media channel.
