Due to heavy rain and wind predicted on the original date of Sunday 2 June, we have postponed this event to the new date of Sunday 16 June.

We are proudly supporting Sutherland Shire Reconciliation to warmly invite you to the annual Reconciliation Week Picnic.  This picnic is held to show respect to local Indigenous culture and heritage with a focus this year on building positive relationships.

The theme from Reconciliation NSW: "Charting a Path Forward: Empowering Communities Now More Than Ever"

This picnic is a fun way to celebrate together on our shared Reconciliation journey in our local community.

The day is a relaxed, unifying cultural event that includes:

  • Smoking Ceremony by Dharawal man Graham Avery
  • Dharawal Welcome by Aunty Dolly Brown
  • Traditional dancing: 'Cedar' Torres Strait Islands
  • Free BBQ sausage sizzle, drinks and fruit
  • Free native plant tube stocks

Other activities on offer include:

  • Weaving with Shalah Johnson
  • Cultural food and medicines walk around the bushland adjacent to the park, facilitated by Graham Avery
  • Native tea making, also with Shalah Johnson
  • Fun crafts and activities for all ages
  • Yarning circles to talk about Reconciliation with Aunty Dolly Brown
  • The importance of preserving our trees with Sonja Sherer.
  • How to be a good Ally with an Aboriginal Elder
  • There’ll be a raffle with great prizes to be won!

All are welcome, so bring your picnic rug. We hope to see you there!
