
Starting location - Taren Point Shorebird Reserve
You’re invited to a fun 7km bicycle ride from Taren Point Shorebird Reserve to Don Lucas Reserve, Cronulla. So grab your bikes, helmets, your friends and family, and join us for a fantastic experience on two wheels.
What a great way to get some fresh air, exercise, and enjoy a day out with our great community. The supervised course along off-road paths are easily managed by all ages. Volunteers will be on hand to assist at crossing points.
Times
- course open from 9.00am - 11.00am
- riders can book timeslots with your ride starting at either 9am, 9.30am or 10am onwards
- activities completed at 1.00pm.
Event details
Riders need to bring their own bikes, in good roadworthy condition (including bell). All riders MUST WEAR a helmet. At the finish line at Don Lucas Reserve, Cronulla enjoy:
- inflatable obstacle course
- giant slides
- face painting
- snake and reptile display
- food and drink stalls
- giveaways and games!
Location and registration
Riders will need to show registration details at Taren Point Shorebird Reserve. Please keep your registration email handy.
Riders can enter the Reserve from the corner of Smith Street and Alexander Avenue. On street-parking is available.
Bike and helmet safety checks are part of the check-in process.
Rider's helmets will be checked for correct fit and safety.
Please ensure that bikes are in safe working condition BEFORE the event - that the bell is working, the tyres are pumped, the chain is oiled, and the brakes are working correctly.
E-scooters and illegally modified E-bikes will not be permitted. Due to the large numbers of riders expected to take part in this event, Council would prefer that non-powered pedal cycles are used. If you do intend to ride an e-bike, please indicate your choice when booking your ticket.
The course ends at Don Lucas Reserve, Mitchell Road, Cronulla.
The cycle route and map
The ride commences at Taren Point Shorebird Reserve. Cyclists ride east along the cycle path on the foreshore to Solander playing fields. Riders then continue along the path, crossing Captain Cook Drive at the signalled crossing, and then riding east along the cycle path adjacent Captain Cook Drive.
Riders continue along path, crossing at Woolooware Road and Elouera Road. Riders then will turn right on the footpath at Elouera Road, then turn left onto Bate Bay Road heading east. At the top of the hill, the path will join the Don Lucas Reserve bike track and the ride concludes at the bottom of the hill.
Shuttle service
PCYC Sutherland are providing a shuttle service from Don Lucas Reserve back to Taren Point Shorebird Reserve. There is a gold coin donation for this service.
So, if you prefer not to ride back to the start to collect your car at Shorebird Reserve, one of your group can get the shuttle service back to the start to collect your car.
Please tick the shuttle box option in the booking form if you would like to use this service to return to your vehicle.
Please note - this is for riders only; no bikes can be transported.

Food and drinks
PCYC Sutherland are providing sausage sandwiches at Don Lucas Reserve - gold coin donation.
Drinks will also be available to purchase - cash only. Tap water is also available.

Wet Weather
Registered riders will be emailed on Sunday morning if there are any changes to the event due to weather.
Council staff may take photos and or videos at this event. We might use those images in our publications, on website or social media or other communications. Please tell a staff member on the day if you don't want your image used.
