Each year we recognise outstanding service and excellence in our local community.
The program highlights our community's academic, artistic, and sporting achievements. It also recognises the unsung heroes who give their time and skills to help others. These contributions make Sutherland Shire a better place to live, work, and play.
We are calling for nominations in education, health, fundraising, charity, volunteer work, sports, the arts, the environment, and other fields that help improve our community.
People and community services nominated must live or operate within the Sutherland Shire.
Award Categories
Citizen of the Year
- A citizen who has made the most outstanding contribution to our community during the year.
- A citizen who is a role model, quiet achiever, or leader in our community.
Young Citizen of the Year
- Must be 25 or younger as of 31 December 2024
- A citizen who has made the most outstanding contribution to our community during the year.
- A citizen who is a role model, quiet achiever, or leader in our community.
Community Group of the Year
- An organisation or community group that has made an outstanding contribution to our community.
Environmental Citizen of the Year
- A citizen or community group that has made an outstanding environmental achievement in our community.
Sports Citizen of the Year
- A citizen or community group that has made an outstanding sporting achievement or significant contribution to sport in our community.
Young Sports Citizen of the Year
- Must be 25 or younger as of 31 December 2024.
- A citizen who has made an outstanding sporting achievement, or significant contribution to sport in our community.
Show your appreciation by nominating someone special. It doesn’t take long—we just need a few details and a photo. Being nominated is a special experience and a lifelong memory for the nominee. Celebrate those who make a difference in our community by giving them the recognition they deserve.
Nominations open 1 August and close 14 October 2024.
